About Craig Chevrier and Responsible Media Strategy

Be Socially Responsible. Question Media!

I am a web marketing strategist, Internet plannner & consultant, educator, activist, writer, and public speaker. My experience teaching a media ethic course at Champlain College for 7 years, along with my undergraduate degree in journalism and my master’s degree in Political Communication, as well as my 12 years of experience in marketing and web development, have contributed to my skepticism and concern about the interaction of mass media and society.

The future of our society is jeopardized by a system where information – and indeed, “truth” – is a commodity, where people can choose to believe spin rather than be armed with facts on which to base decisions about their society and themselves. This includes a need to understand the technology, and what it has to offer us. And it means being honest with clients about the capabilities and limitations of the Internet and web-based communications.

My focus in all my work is on sustainable, fair media that empowers its audiences to participate in the workings of their daily lives and to fully understand the products and ideas they consume.

Vermont Based Online Marketing Strategy

Socially-Responsible Website & Online Marketing Consulting for Your Business or Nonprofit

I have worked for organizations of all sizes and stripes. From environmental nonprofits and foundations to large educational institutions and national retail corporations, I have assisted in developing Internet marketing and online technology strategies that allow organizations to optimize their web presence, and to do so in a way that meets the needs of both the senders and receivers in the online & offline marketing, communications, and activism/fundraising areas.

I can help you with your search engine optimization (SEO) and pay-per-click planning, Google Analytics tracking and reporting, technological resaerch, website planning, and media relations and direct marketing programs.

My fulltime job is as senior strategist and account director at Vermont Design Works, and most of my client work would be through VDW -- a full-service web design, development and marketing agency. I also refer smaller-budget projects who cannot afford an agency, to local freelance partners, including Answer Media Collective, a Vermont-based virtual agency specializing in website design and online marketing for nonprofits and small businesses. Finally, I take on pro bono projects for organizations whose missions I support. Contact me for consulting services for your company, nonprofit, or activist organization.
